Terms of use
Last updated July 2026
By using PlainBody you agree to these terms. They are meant to be readable, not to trap you.
What this site is
PlainBody publishes independent, evidence-graded information about the ingredients in personal-care products, and scores products on what is in them. It is operated by [PlainBody legal entity]. Everything here is general cosmetic and educational information. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for a doctor or dermatologist. If you react to a product, patch test and talk to a professional.
Accuracy and the PlainScore
A PlainScore reflects our reading of a product’s publicly available ingredient list against published safety reviews, using the method on our how we score page. Formulas change and labels vary by region and batch. We work to keep ratings current and we correct mistakes (see our corrections policy), but we cannot guarantee that every detail is complete or up to date. The decode tool scores only the ingredients it recognizes and says so. Use your own judgement before buying.
Affiliate links
Some outbound links are affiliate links and may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. They never influence a score or a rating. Full detail is in our affiliate disclosure.
Using our content
The ratings, the PlainScore method, the ingredient write-ups, and the “PlainBody” and “PlainScore” names are ours. You are welcome to quote a short passage or cite a statistic with clear attribution and a link back to the page. You may not republish ratings or datasets wholesale, or present our scores as your own.
No warranty and liability
The site is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, [PlainBody legal entity] is not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site or reliance on its information, including a purchase decision. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [your state/country], without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
